		<description>That Salinger biography probably isn't a good place to gain any sort of insight.  Alexander falls into the easy trap of using the man's literary output for personal analysis, and with as artful and complex a narrator as Salinger's, that leads to bizarre and unsubstantiated conclusions.  Also, Alexander's understanding of psychology seems to be very limited.  You're better off with Salinger's daughter's memoir, which is less adventurous, but much more valid.</description>
