Frank, your editor at Upstreet recommended this website. I sent her an e-mail and asked that it be forwarded to you. The e-mail was in response to your "Everlasting" piece.

Anyway, I like to write in the first person and reference the past. I use movie titles in my fiction to give the reader a sense of the time period. The titles are used extrinsically.

As much as I love Cold Case, I agree. Music is a key theme in that show and is only used to put you back in time of the case.
Palahniuk is truly my favorite author. I, too, have read Survivor, Fight Club and Invisible Monsters, respectivly. Though they are all the same, his writing is different than most that I have read. It plays with your mind and I had problems putting it down.

Who's Rapunzel? This is the most interesting thing you've written in a long time. I've been reading a lot of Chuck Klosterman lately and this strikes me as on par with him...in his very specific personal/cultural melting-pot, diatribe vein. I bet you that people who read this comment will think negatively of me for liking Chuck Klosterman. To those people: that kind of thinking is why I like Klosterman more than you.

Also: who is Rapunzel? I can't think of anyone associated with Wordstreet who has long hair.

I love the last one! I'm in the same boat as you - can easily claim to watching close to a dozen series on a regular basis, plus news and sports shows, yet still manage to read a few books, literary journals and many manuscripts per week. Unless you don't have a television, you're probably watching television.

Didn't you once teach a workshop about specific songs shaping the "sound track of your life?" Also, I HATE how right you are about Palahnuik...because I still love him, although he obviously doesn't care.
